I'm having a problem with syncing photo library using personal hotspot, as I'm on holidays and on unlimited data plan I connected my MBA to iphone hotspot but the photo library will not update, app store can get updates ect but no photo sync, whole idea of me taking my MBA so I can view photos and videos I have taken with Iphone on MBA, anyone knows how I can sort this out. Iphone updated all the photos and video to icloud.

Just to add: MBA M1 on 12.4 and iPhone 12 on 15.6
Thanks

I don't use iCloud for photos, so I'm not sure what the process normally looks like when syncing those photos to your Mac, but are you getting any kind of error messages or is it just that no syncing automatically happens when you open Photos on your Mac? Is there an option in Photos to manually start the syncing process? Have you tried rebooting your MBA?

it just won't sync or show latest photos, right on bottom displayed last sync 4th August when was last connected to proper wifi and looking online looks to be limitation of OS where it requires proper wifi and not hotspot, I hope this is not true because most of my internet connection when out and about is from hotspot, I manage to find hotel which had free wifi and iCloud photos have updated now but still will have same problem tomorrow. I'm little peed off been honest if this is OS limitation and there is no work around for it.

It sounds like this could be driven by your iPhone automatically pausing uploads of photos to iCloud until you're connected to Wi-Fi. Open the photos app on your phone and scroll to the very bottom. If you see something along the lines of "uploads paused," click the button to resume and see if that helps.

Thanks but in first post I have mention that the phone has uploaded all photos and videos to icloud, to me this looks like OS limitation on MBA because as soon as I connected to hotel wifi all photos showed up, maybe a settings on OS but someone mention on other sides that for photos to sync from icloud to MBA the OS needs to see a proper wifi and not hotspot which is crap, hence I was hopping someone knows bit more on here.

I managed to find this and is not looking good, I'm absolutely fuming now, will try old Android phone once return from trip and see if the MBA will get the photos via hotspot.
