Was wondering if this would be a good deal? I've seen the laptop and it has a few minor scratches on the bottom. It comes with AppleCare and some good software suites. $1600 a good deal?

Well I was referring to him recommending the original MBA from ~1.5 years ago for $1000 even though the thread starter says he has access to the $2500 current MBA for $1600.

I responded to some Craig's List ads for rev B MBAs with 1.86 and SSD today. One was selling it, plus SuperDrive, plus software, plus case for $2000. I offered $1850 and it was sold later in the day for $2000. I should have just paid the $2000.

Mine was stolen, and I actually am hopeful to find my stolen MBA on sale, to buy it back with my files since my backup drive was stolen also. HA HA!

I still have my SuperDrive though, so I didn't think it was mine.

Sure, $1600 is a good price. That's a joke right? For a rev B MBA with 1.86 GHz CPU and SSD, anything less than $2000 is decent. I see them for $2k to $2100 new in box, so less than that with extras is a good deal.

Sounds like a good deal (too good?). I would make sure the seller can produce a receipt. Who knows maybe they just need to liquidate quickly.

    Good luck.

Well I bought it. I'm going to clean it up both HDD and on the outside of the case, take some pictures, and see what I can get for it on eBay. If I don't get as much as I want, I'll just keep it. It's too good a deal not to keep, especially with AppleCare until 2012.

You're going to have to keep checking eBay or Craigslist.

yeah, craigslist is dicey here in NYC (plus may still think 1.6/80 is worth 1200-1300 bucks:cool:) so eBay for me.... I am settling on a 1.6/120 for about 1200 if I can find one and upgrade later

Wow, I sold my 1.86/128gb SSD with Applecare, SD and incase sleeve for $2100 a few weeks ago on Craigslist.

I had plenty of people lowball me, and I sure lowballed the heck out of people when I was shopping for my MBP! You have to stand up for yourself when you are selling! Some of those sellers are getting killed! :)

At this point, I'm going to list it on eBay and if my BIN of $2250 is met, then it's out the door. It not, then I'll keep it for the deal I got. This thing is an awesome little laptop!!!

    prices are dropping

i have been taking notice of the prices of both Rev B's and I can tell you that SSD's are going no more than 1900 now and HDD are around 1300. These are new ones, not used but the used ones are not much cheaper.

I am sure I will land a HDD one for less than $1400

I have a hard time figuring out why you asked if $1600 was good, then I thought, no it's more like bragging about it.

Doubt you will get $2250. But good luck.

I have been seeing them right in the $1900 to $2000 mark new. Used, have been only slightly lower. The one I saw used for two months w/receipt for $2000, had a $100 case, $600 worth of software/disks included (Microsoft Office and CS4 Premium Full), a clear plastic protector $50, and AppleCare $120 eBay. I think it was $3300 worth of stuff for $2000. I should have just paid $2000 considering all of it. I was trying to get all of the adds for free by offering $1850, was actually hopeful to meet at $1920 which was what I could get new for. Really dumb though cause could have had AppleCare plus all of that.

Probably just going to buy one new in box for $1920 if I don't find a better used deal in the next week.

I also need to buy a MBP for my kids. So far I found the new 2.4 unibody MBP for $1540. Anyone finding a better price? Used around $1350.

Personally, I think resale prices have dropped substantially on everything. If used, people are dropping even lower when less cash offered. This economy is really affecting people. I think people just need cash for rent or mortgage payments or worse yet food.

I found a reseller selling new MBP in box for $1540 cash and told me is lower than his cost but it gives him time when he sells for less and just needs cash flow. Cannot believe it myself. Just amazing. Also has the new MBA rev B w/SSD and 1.86 CPU for $1920. Told me will sell AppleCare for 35% of retail also.

Really amazed as never seen prices so low on Macs as right now. Usually I just buy from Apple as not worth the hassle to save a few bucks. But right now, the discounts are so large and no tax buying with cash from Craig's List/eBay either.

Craig's List definitely opens the door for big discounts as long as one checks daily for whatever Mac they want. Especially the great used deals sell really quick and the ad goes away and people don't realize how cheap can buy these. I saw a rev B MBA with HDD the other day for $1200 used for less than three months with receipt and Apple Care. I called right when posted, but I didn't know if I wanted HDD. I decided I could live with it until rev C was released, called back a few hours later and the guy sold it. So, have to keep on it to find the great deals and be ready to go drive and pay cash to seal the deal on the spot.

I ended up pulling the trigger on my 1.6 10gb HDD lasty week for 1299 brand new after discounts, I thought I got a good deal, lol. Anyway, the discounts are out there if you are smart. 1600 for the SSD, thats nice, but not plausible for most people as those deals are very few and far between. FYI MBA is my dream, I cannot say more about it than what Scotssdale has already said so many times about the Rev B.:)

I bought a 2.4 Macbook Pro NIB for almost exactly that on NYC Craigslist a few weeks ago. I tried, but I wasnt able to get anyone to go lower. Used was a hundred or two less, as you say.
