Hi everyone, i'm hoping someone can help as this issue is really hindering my workflow.

My USB-C ports work well, my MBA is charging and I'm using them both ports with no issues, I'm using a Qgeem brand adapter for usb, usb-c and hdmi input, my first guess was that it was broken but my troubleshooting steps are now leading me towards a software related problem

Troubleshooting steps;
  1. Tried both USB-C ports with and without dongle (everything works except HDMI input)
  2. Went in "Display Settings" and used CMD + Detect display (nothing)
  3. Tried plugging in roommates MBA on Maverick, 2nd screen turned on flawlessly in both USB-C ports (so that rules out the monitor, the hd cable or Qgeem dongle being the issue)
  4. Rebooted MBA (nothing)
  5. Rebooted MBA in safemode and tried step 2 again (still nothing)
Reinstalling Mac OS is a last resort i'm trying to avoid as this is a work computer and IT doesn't know I have admin access and was able to install a beta software. 😬🤫

Work around
Right now I plugged my Apple TV on my second monitor and i'm casting my second display to my Apple tv which does the trick while I find a fix for this.
