Hello,

I have a late 2018 MBA with 128GB internal drive and a Samsung X5 1TB external. I'd like to install windows 10 with boot camp but am unsure wether to install to the internal drive or the external drive?

Any thoughts or opinions? Thanks in advance for the help, I'm sure I'll have follow up questions.

Using the X5 will be the bet to keep your internal drive from filling up fast. The only exception would be if you think you’ll need windows at a time when having an external drive connected would be a nuisance.

I don't think I'd need windows at a time when I'd be without the external. If installing windows to the X5, would I need to partition the drive in order to be able to use it for Mac storage as well?

I might be wrong, but I don't believe the boot camp installer officially supports installing to an external drive. However, there are several good write-ups online that explain how to do it. I did it once and it worked fine. If I recall correctly, I think it involves using Virtualbox temporarily to assist with the install.
