Hi there! n-th question of core-vs-RAM here.

For someone who is probably going to use his Macbook as their go-to and desktop computer, but just for fairly light usage (typically, 10-15 tabs of safari, light programming and iTunes) and is kind of on a budget, which do you think would age better? A 2018 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM or a 2018 Pro (13") with 8GB of RAM?

And do you think that any of the two could support the OS upgrades well enough (for my usage at least) for the next 5 years (and so last comfortably for 7-8 years)? Or do you think that for concrete hope of it holding up this long I would *need* to buy the MBP with 16GB of RAM?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S.: I know it has been posted a somewhat similar question recently, but I am not considering the 2017 MacBook Pro because of the keyboard thing and the - for me important - absence of TouchID.

P.P.S.: I come from a MBA10 13" that I find still pretty usable to this day, albeit running the "old" Mavericks

In my opinion MBP 2018 will age better, it's a beast with 4cores and twice as much horsepower as the MBA from 2018.
Don't think rams are that much needed as macos can work with them pretty well.
My girlfriend still has MBA from 2015 with 4 gigs of ram, running mojave without any issue.

I would definitely go with the mbp for your case. Great little machine!
