depends on what you're doing, when I render in final cut, the processor usage spikes up but when I'm in lightroom, I'm frequently left with like 100 mb of free memory

For the most part I'll be mixing in Logic Pro, saving the mp3's and wav's or saving jpg's from Photoshop.

I bought my MBP a few months ago and had to make the decision between the 2.4/2.66GHz models. The speed increase is noticeable for some tasks (particularly VMWare) and general responsiveness is a bit better when compared to a friends 2.4GHz model. It's also worth remembering that you can always upgrade the HDD and RAM at a later date, but you can't upgrade the processor.

Photoshop is mostly cpu intensive but for the most part, but like many have said, 2.66 is not worth the price when considering the performance/$, you'd be more satisfied with a SSD for fast bootup of those programs. I find that when using CS5, it's my stock 5400rpm hard drive that annoys me at least when accessing and saving photos.

CS5 at least for me, doesn't bog down my 2.4 cpu, it only hits like 20% cpu usage when editing, it's ram that I'm running out of especially with this "inactive ram" being held up.
