Guys:

I would be interested to obtain a used MBP 13" (Mid 2009, 2.53 GHz, running on Yosemite) as a parts donor. The seller states that from time to time he sees this display fault on the right side:

Would you say this is graphics card error or a display fault? The latter would pull me off purchase. FYI, the seller also state trackpad defective.

Best and thanks,
Magnus

Don't know, but I've seen liquid damage cause similar stripes, which would be a screen or cable problem, not card.

Common sense would dictate that yes, you should pass on a defective electronics device unless you are proficient in repair and wish to do so as a hobby project.
Obviously, yes. I would intend to buy this to replace the defective display of my current MBP. Thus, for me I would need to be able to estimate whether the fault one sees is a mainboard, cable or display issue.

Thanks,
Magnus
