MBP 13" 2018 / Iris plus / 4k screen lagging --> egpu?

Hi
Using a MBP 13" 2018 with Iris Plus integrated gfx.

4k screen hooked via USB-C (DP).

Native screen resolution --> UI is fast, switching between apps in fullscreen is instant

Scaling causes huge UI lags.

Question:

Will the use of an external GPU (egpu) solve the lags while using my 4k screen with scaling enabled?
