Hi Guys,

Out of MBP 13 2019 Base Config and MBA 13 2019 Base Config.

Which will be better machine ?

I do 20+ Tabs in Safari and Chrome, netflix, Spotify, MS word/excel processing.

The Macbook Pro or Air would be used for Music Creation as well. I also record song covers on my guitar and vocal chords, then process those videos in iMovie. Trying to learn FCP also.

Currently, I have a MBP 13 2010 with updated RAM and SSD.

Should i get one out of these two or wait for a better one..(10nm processor, better keyboard)

Please suggest.

I was also thinking to go for MBP...

But currently no great deals on base MBP, although Macbook Air 13 2019 Base is heavily discounted at best buy for 899.
I’d go for the MBA. I’ve heard of a couple of users of the base MBP having battery issues: when the battery gets to approximately 20% the machine simply shuts off.

I would go for the Pro it has a quad core processor compared to the dual core on the air so it is better in the long run if you plan on keeping it for a few years.

If you can wait, it is better to wait, especially with the rumors of an impending redesign. Just keep in mind it may be many months.

I recently picked up a base MBA for my daughter and I'm not going to lie, it is more impressive than I anticipated. She needs to run Photoshop CC and it handles it admirably. The base '19 MBA is listed for $900+ on swappa - pick one up, see if it works for you and either return it if it doesn't or list it on swappa and buy a MBP.

BTW, the geekbench scores of the 2019 MBA are barely lower than the 2017 nTB MBP. I had the latter and it was a very capable machine.

The base MBA would be fine, except for the crazy amounts of tabs open

Yeah, what do you think about no of years this macbook air will see ?

My old mbp 13 2010 would be completing a decade next year lol and still works for basic stuff with upgraded SSD and RAM.

Hmm.. do you still have that MBP ?
I saw geekbench for 2019 Base MBP 13 and it just trumps everything on anything top of the line in MBP 2017 line up.

Should serve me more years than mba 2019 ?

I sold it through Apple's trade in because I got tired of the noisy keyboard. Can't decide what to get next.

The base MBP will definitely have more longevity than a base MBA, but because the RAM/SSD are not upgradeable, it probably won't see a life as long as your 2010 unless you load it up now. They charge an arm and a leg for the upgrades so the value becomes questionable. I think a better strategy nowadays is to buy what you need now and upgrade every 2-3 years, or even sooner, while keeping the machine under AppleCare+.

BTW, I had a 2010 too.
