I can't speak to your needs, but on a day-to-day, hour-by-hour basis, what matters to me are:
The trackpad quality -- Mac is excellent, on par with Lenovo.
The keyboard quality -- Mac is excellent, on par with Lenovo.
The screen quality -- Mac fonts are blurry
Responsiveness -- Mac C2D is fast enough.
Reliability -- Mac is considered good and the Apple store is always nearby.
Many PC makers, especially HP, are known for making unreliable laptops. HP is known for making utterly unusable trackpads. And while the HP keyboard may look like the Mac's, it could easily feel very different.
If you need Windows but you want good hardware, consider getting a Mac, wiping the hard drive and installing Windows.
