I was playing sc2 and all of a sudden a error popped up and told me to shut down my computer. upon booting it back up it told me my computer suffered a kernel panic. should i be worried? mac is only 1 week old, and i cannot take to the apple store because the closest 1 is 2 hrs away

Well i got a error message that my computer settings were making the game lag, but i saw no lag, so i shrugged it off, could it of been that my computer was just too hot cause it couldnt handle it?

It could have been that, but more likely the kernel just panicked due to some hiccup or bad instruction. If it happens once, then there is no need to worry. If it happens regularly, then maybe you should look into it some more.
I have had several kernel panics since moving to Mac OS X, but only once did they repeat, and I solved it somehow.

If the computer runs hot you should Download a program called smcFanControl its free and it allows you to control fan speed, you needn't worry about damaging the fan, all the speed settings are within Apple safety standards. As for the shut down... you should make sure you have quit all other applications and the bottom of the computer is well ventilated. Also while in the game you should set the graphic settings to low or medium not high.
    Hope that helped

You have Norton installed? Why? Uninstall it, it is not needed and only brings your Mac down and could even be the cause of your problems.
    Mac Virus/Malware Info by GGJstudios
There are currently no viruses for Mac OS X in public circulation, only a handful of trojans and other malware, which have to be installed manually via entering the administrator password.
The only anti-virus you need to protect your Mac is education and common sense.

Best way to FULLY DELETE a program

If you're running any multimedia apps or Flash on websites, that temp is quite normal. It's well within the normal operating range. The Intel processors used in Macs are designed to automatically shut down to prevent damage if they truly overheat (around 100C/212F - 105C/221F, depending on your processor). iStat Pro will give you accurate readings of your temps, among other things.

Unless there is a rare defect in your Mac, your temps are well within the normal operating range, considering the workload you're putting on it. Websites with Flash content, games and other multimedia apps will put higher demand on the CPU/GPU, generating more heat. This is normal. If you're constantly putting high demands on your system, such as gaming or other multimedia tasks, expect temps to rise and fans to spin up accordingly. It's just your Mac doing its job to maintain temps within the normal range.

norton was free from comcast said i said why not, and finally figured out my problem my computer was overclocked, i dont know how or why, but it was, and i uninstalled a program called folding home. and as soon as i got rid of them both my computer is now running at 111F with fans at 4000rpm

Your Mac was not overclocked, it was just using the CPU at its full potential due to the running of Folding@Home, which uses every available CPU it can get. "Overclocking is the process of running a computer component at a higher clock rate (more clock cycles per second) than it was designed for or was specified by the manufacturer" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking

And just because Norton was free, as even excrements on the ground is free, doesn't mean you have to use it, as it bogs down your CPU too and is not needed to the absence of viruses for Mac OS X and the existence (or possible existence) of common sense.
And if you need a peace of mind, then use something like ClamXav, it is free too, but only scans when you want to.
