To anyone who has this computer, does the fan make an electronic buzzing type of sound when the fans are on or does the fan sound more like a whoosh with no electronic buzzing? Mine has an electronic buzz to it which my old Air doesn't have at all. What does yours sound like?

Thank you.

IMO, I think the 2019 machines with single-fan configurations (MB Air, 2 TB MBPs) have "whine-y" fans. I had a 2019 MBA for a bit and it drove me nuts when the fans were on. I replaced it with a 4 TB MBP and the fans are whisper quiet unless they are > 6k rpm and at that point it's just an air rushing sound.

Thanks to both for replying,. Any one else who can share what their fan noise is like?

Almost sounded like coil whine for me.

Exchanged it for i7 4TB. Runs SO much cooler as well! Also faster too for me anyways

I just received my 1.4 16GB/256GB and I noticed the same thing right away. Along with expected whoosh of air, it almost sounds like a little tiny bee inside.

It doesn’t sound like a bad bearing, more like something is loose or one of the rubber isolation mounts isn’t doing its job.

Note I need to be in a absolutely quiet room to hear it - any background noise at all masks it. During normal tasks it rarely moves off 0 RPM (according to the macs fan control app) so it hasn’t bugged me much.

So far it is my only complaint - this thing is more of a beast than its specs let on.
