are we being used to test out the screen
or is there any reason to have so many model?

I don't know guys, I think we're nit picking a little too much here. I have the 9CBD screen and my girlfriend has the 9C9E and they are both great! I do prefer mine because the 9C9E does seem to have the purple blues but she doesn't even notice, and the 9CBD is perfect in my opinion.

I guess this can't be help.
the most we can do beside rejecting is to spend more time and patient to proper calibrate the screen.

Yeah, I have the 9C9E, and the blues are purple. Pretty pathetic, but I think it has something to do with the display driver. After calibration, I've gotten rid of the purple blues however. If I hadn't, I would've exchanged the laptop, but now things look as good as a TN panel will get.

I have the 9C9E screen and its fine after calibration profiles. I use my imac for editing etc than the macbook pro.its just portability factor.

The major problem is that you can't speak of "the MBP screen" or "the UMB screen" since Apple has different supplyers for their panels...
Thanks for adding that point of difference. However, it still doesn't explain why MacWorld said that the viewing angles were slightly better on the original Aluminum MacBook (in comparison to the 13" MacBook Pro). If you take that statement at face value then it means that SOME of the new MacBook Pros have poorer viewing angles than even the previous generation MacBook. Since most seem to be talking about color saturation and "neon" blues/greens I'm wondering whether anyone has done comparisons of the viewing angles since that was really the biggest problem with the displays on the original 13" Aluminum MacBooks. Viewing angle is probably a more difficult factor to quantify but "color" quality is also subjective unless you measure the display with a good colorimeter.

Specifically, has anyone reported problems with the viewing angles on ANY of the new 13" MacBook Pros? Sure, the viewing angle could always be wider, but do these new displays have a decently wide sweet spot where the color and image quality is at least somewhat constant?

I went to a local computer store yesterday to compare Macbook Pro 13.3" and Macbook unibody 13.3". If there was a difference it was so small that I couldn't detect it. Rather disappointing, because of all the talk about 60 % greater colour gamut. Anyway, the panels must've been from the same manufacturer. Overall presentation was fairly alright colour wise, maybe slightly washed out, but the colours seemed reasonable (at least not oversaturation). I thought that the displays could've been a tad brighter (even at max brightness).

15.4" Macbook Pro clearly had a different panel, because it was noticeably brighter than it's 13.3" siblings.

Overall the displays were slightly disappointing, I certainly expected more from 13.3" Macbook Pro. Looks like there was no gamut increase on some panels! But by far the worst feature was the ghastly reflections all of these had. Macbook Air was a bit better in this respect.

I would've already bought the 13.3" Macbook Pro if it wasn't for the dreadful reflections and the lottery of the screens. But the way it is now, it keeps me hesitating.

I could not agree more! It's absolutely ridiculous we have to play screen lottery. They should all come with the same screens. I had the 9C9E on my 13" 2.26 MBP, all the blue links were purple and the screen just in general was washed out and not sharp. I tried several calibration profiles, but they just seemed like trying to mask something that was an obvious problem. Needless to say, I returned mine and it ended up being a nightmare. Very bad experience with apple this go around. In the past I have had lots of apple products but this was by far the worst experience.

I should also mention that the rewind/pause/fast forward buttons were all crooked.

Do you think color profile on the screens is off due to it being calibrated to osx 10.6 new gamma profile?

To add to the screen lottery we still have the blinking screen issue to be resolved by Apple. As it stands now we have apologetic users that brush this issue when the screen turns off and then on again aside as only happening 2 to 3 times a day. It really shouldn't happen at all on a new computer.

It was actually wrong... 9C8C seems not to be used in the mid 2009 MBP.

My late 08 unibody macbook collector's edition has a 9c8c.

I picked up my $1,600 MacBook tonight at 7p at Stonestown Galleria store in San Francisco. It was their last one, so very lucky! Apple rep had no clue about DisplayPort cable at Stonestown, so I had to educate him and run to Stockton Street store to pick one up!

So, I’m creating a thread where owners can post their experiences.

Comments
Weight -- half-pound weight loss is definitely noticeable compared to previous MacBook.
Chassis -- This is definitely the German ubercar of computing. A total brick, man. THERE HAVE BEEN ISOLATED REPORTS OF LOOSE-FITTING BATTERY COVER PLATES. CHECK THIS THREAD FOR MORE INFO: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/584475/; or even better, watch this YouTube video. The edge of the Aluminimum MacBook is not sharp like the white MacBook, so definitely more comfortable.
Display -- The LED screen is noticeably improved over last MacBook. It's nice, evenly lit, with very minor light leakage at bottom. I have no dead or stuck pixels. UPDATE: SOME USERS REPORT THAT LCD PANELS SUPPLIED BY AU OPTRONICS ARE SUPERIOR TO LG/PHILIPS PANELS. TO SEE WHICH ONE YOU HAVE, FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

CHOOSE “SYSTEM PREFERENCES...” FROM APPLE MENU
CLICK ON “COLOR”
CLICK ON “OPEN PROFILE”
SCROLL DOWN TO ITEM #13 AND CLICK ON IT AND YOU WILL SEE THE SCREEN BELOW:

THE “MODEL” NUMBER CONTAINS THESE CODES:

9C89 = LG Philips
9C8C = AU Optronics

Recommendation: Make sure to increase saturation by choosing television gamma in display preferences. Also, several other threads contain calibrated monitor profiles that may help.
GPU -- Another important improvement is the new Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics processor (Apple is the first company to ship a computer using the 9400M). Unlike the integrated Intel GMA X3100 graphics in the previous MacBook, the 9400M has its own graphics processing unit (GPU), providing more power than the integrated Intel chip. Like the X3100, the 9400M doesn’t have its own memory, and instead relies on main system RAM. But the Alu MacBook uses fast DDR3 SDRAM and the GPU gets 256MB of RAM, a boost from the 144MB of the X3100.
Trackpad -- Trackpad is very responsive. I love the fact that Jobs solved the two-button trackpad mouse issue, without actually using buttons! SOME PEOPLE SAY THEIR TRACKPAD IS NOT CENTERED AND HAS LESS OF A GAP ON ONE SIDE. CORRECT GAP WIDTH IS ABOUT 1MM ALL AROUND.
SuperDrive -- faster and quieter than previous generation.
Keyboard -- you will grow to like this keyboard; spaced-out keys reduce typing errors; keyboard cover plate resists accidental damage due to spilled drinks. Most importantly, blueberry muffin crumbs can't fall between the cracks.
Speakers -- much louder than MacBook. Finally!
Wi-Fi -- reception is very strong with Time Capsule, and rock steady.
Power -- Battery lasts about 3:30 hours at medium brightness and approximately 2:30 at maximum brightness, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. Keep in mind that the 45-Wh battery is smaller than the one from the original MacBook, which had a 55-Wh capacity. This partly explains the weight savings. RECHARGING BATTERY TAKES VERY LONG. TYPICALLY THREE HOURS FROM 0% TO 100%; WITH TWO HOURS REQUIRED TO GO FROM 50% TO 100%.
