Kudos to you, but you almost gave me a heartattack, afterwards I realized that these temps are in Fahrenheit LOL
Thought you were cooked at first :p

How is overall responsiveness in OSX when running Windows 7 through virtualisation.

OS X remains plenty responsive when running Windows 7 in a VM with 1GB of RAM going to the VM. Handles the tasks fine.

Just get the 17" matte, and the Intel X25M.
You'll love it.

Now for me, I was a matte guy with my 15" but I switched to the glossy 17" and I must say I enjoy the glossy display, it looks amazing at 1920x1200.

Thank you, I probably will :D
Just removing final thoughts about 15" :p

Anyone that can get me over the line? :D

On virtualization, I'm playing with Parallels 5 beta/Win 7 here.
It runs really good on this config.

Niet twijfelen, kopen. ;)
Haha dat is een aanmoediging ja ;)

But I'm still not undecided on the question: glossy/matte

Glossy is easier to clean and more vibrant (I don't need 100% accuracy)
Matte is more useful outside, but to my experience a pain in the ass to keep clean.

Guess it's personal thing.
I think the matte version is bright enough&I hate reflections.
Keeping it clean is really easy.
Don't laugh, but I just get a tissue with a drop of water on it every now and then, wipe the screen clean, and it looks like new again.
One more thing, you mentioned hooking up an external drive to your 24" display.
USB disks are horribly slow, just get a fw800 enclosure.

Thanks for the advice :)
What do you think of the overall design with a matte display? Because stores here only display the glossy ones.

And do you like the overall quality of the matte screen? (crispy and vibrant?)

I've seen/used both matte and glossy.
I love the matte screen&prefer the overall design.

Now I'm 99% sure of purchasing the MBP 17" matte :)
Don't know what holds me back :D (maybe the 2500 EUR pricetag with accessoires :p)

Move to Switzerland :D

It's not much cheaper over there, think moving to Swiss will cost me more over time :p
And I can retrieve the VAT so that's a mindeaser :p

But the reactions I will get from familiy (and girlfriend) "you just bought (6 months ago) a 2k Euro laptop and now you've got yourself a new one" puts me off lol :D

Will tell 'em that I sold my previous one with profit :D (isn't sold yet :p)

Why would you do that? Don't you think that the 15" has a too limited resolution?

the main reason i got the 17 was because the 15 didnt have a matte screen option .. i would like to bring my laptop to school for those 3 hour classes but i just feel weird doing it .. kinda big ..everyone else is rocking 13 mbp and some 15s ..

as for the resolution .. the 17mbp is great .. sometimes its kinda hard to read cuz some of the text when writing on websites is tiny and you cant make it bigger

ohw oké :)
I can understand that pure portability is less with the 17", but that's not my main goal as I'm not a student anymore.
And now i'm looking at a 16" 1920x1080px, so my eyes can deal with it :)

Thanks for the clarification, you just may have been that one percent :p

^ WOW went from 13, to 15, to 17. Big leap. Enjoy that and enjoy this if you ever fly ...

I'm kidding, it's a sweet desk ... notebook. :D

LOL
Great way of entering a thread when it's already ordered :p

It was a turbulent journey indeed, could've been a 13" that I ended up ordering :p (would've been cheaper though :D)

But I've always looked jealous (not the right word, but you know) when I saw a 17" back when I still owned a 15" MBP, so I think it's the right decision (must be now lol :p)
