I think the 13" MBP is the most perfect form factor laptop ever.

It's just perfect. And no, the resolution doesn't bother me.

All depend on user's need. I would go crazy working on Excel spreadsheets or two A4 document side by side on such low resolution, which is way I never considered a 13" mbp.

I completely understand that - however it is possible to complete anything on a 1280x800 screen. I realize that you wouldn't put yourself through that given that there are better options but my post was more directed towards those that try to impose that they "require" the upmost resolution in order to complete their work, or better yet, pull up Facebook. The kind of person that will demand newer technology, brag about the rMBP or a phone screen, etc.

I've got a brand new 2012 13" base line MBP, and I think it's a great little computer.

That being said, I was taken aback when I saw that the MBA had a better resolution on it's 13" offering. That . . . doesn't quite make sense to me.

Doesn't apple consider (in their documentation) the 13" screen on the laptop the auxiliary screen?

They expect it to be plugged into and external monitor, which is what I done on mine for almost 2 years, worked great.

The resolution does feel cramped though, if you need to use the laptops screen.

LOLOLOL... get a better IDE. I use several IDE's and never have an issue, either with number of lines or character width. Happy to share screen shots if you want.
I just unboxed my new MBP 13" few hours ago. The resolution of the screen was the only thing I was afraid of. Before MBP I used ASUS EEE with larger resolution and 130 ppi. And you know what? Display of MBP 13" looks actually better and does not feel to be out-dated at all.

Sure I will probably use external display for far more work space, but I would use it with 1440x900 anyway and higher resolution on small screen like this does not make much sense in term of available workspace (things would have to be scaled up as rMBP 15" does it).
