I bought the new i5 baseline macbook pro when it came out, I know its not the most powerful machine but thought it would be able to run photoshop well. When i have a large JPEG open in photoshop it becomes very sluggish. For example do a brush stroke and it lags quite badly. Do you think it could just be the RAM? (although i use an app and i always have about a gig of ram free) or could my macbook pro be faulty, recently its been showing the loading sign a lot more than it did when i first got it. What do you guys advise I do?

Maybe try setting the scratch disk to an external.
It's under File>Preference>Performance (I think, I may be wrong).
