Not cheaper, but you don't pay sales tax, which is the advantage to buying on base.

if she purchases it for you, its actually against AAFES rules and can get her in major trouble....

Plus you might want to just check Amazon, they have $80 off plus no tax depending on where you live. Also if you are a student, you get $200 off, but you still pay tax.

Thanks,
is the tax included in the prices you see in the cart in online shops?

I'm from germany so I don't know how this works for you guys in the states.

Ohh you're from Germany. Why would you want to get a Macbook Pro from here then? You won't get the standard german keyboard over here. You should just consider buying it over there.

I would hazard to guess that doesn't matter to him. He obviously speaks English better than most American's. :D And besides that, buying in Dollars vice Euro's is gonna save him a ton of cash. Enough to buy a MacBook Pro at American value and have an 160GB SSD and 4 additional Gig's of RAM installed for about the same price he would pay for a base model there.

Europeans pay 1.3 times the price and here in the U.K. you pay 1.5 times the cost! How would you feel about paying $2300 for a 15" base model Macbook Pro? That's the cost in the U.K.!

I don't know his reasons, but it's most likely because EVERYTHING Apple makes is way cheaper in the USA. I bought mine in Europe because it was my only option, here in Brazil the base 13" MB (not Pro) costs around $1500.

Read the AAFES rules before posting you damn idiot, AAFES allows you to gift it to someone however she must document this. Since he is family there is nothing wrong with him paying her to buy it.

thanks for your help, guys.

I will get the new macbook through my cousin, who works at an Apple Store :).
So there's no need for AAFES.

Cheers.
