mbp 15' 2.5GHz (from june) fan problem

i just bought a used (actually never used! on its first battery cycle) MBP 15'/2.5GHz/2GB

But the fans are running wild! both constantly around 2000rpm acording to istat pro. even when no programs are running.

just updated to 10.5.5, it didn't help.

any suggestions?

2000RPM is the standard 'idle' spin speed - and is pretty darn quiet. Sounds like they might be a little dusty if they're making enough noise to be noticeable!

Yes 2001 rpm at idle is what my machine does, that is normal but the noise isn't. Mine is totally silent.
