Mbp 15" (2009) + acd

Hey,

I'm thinking of getting a ACD 27in for my brothers 15" mpb for his bday. I've used my ACD with a MBA and it was constantly overheating, so will it be the same with the mbp? Will he be able to use it at full resolution, I think he has the 9600M card.

And anyone know when the ACD will be updated?
