I never liked iPhoto to begin with and use Picasa instead but today I noticed the mosaic screensaver and wanted to try it out. It's actually quite a neat little app. The only problem is I can't get it to work once I load up iPhoto with 15K+ pics. It always displays the same pic surrounded by the same other pics (usually black or very dark). It's extremely slow and it just hosed my machine (had to powercycle).
I don't know if it's a iPhoto prob or a mosaic prob but I suspect it's iPhoto. I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and it broke my Moving3DPhotos screensaver so I thought I'd try mosaic out. Bad idea. I'm never touching iPhoto (or anything that is related to it) again. I'll bet dollars to cents that the iPhoto development group staff come from Microsoft 😛 That's how bad I think it is.
