MBP 16" auto screen brightness choppy

I noticed on my 16" MBP that the screen auto brightness adjustment is not smooth at all, it is as if I was manually pressing on the brightness button several times to reach the intended brightness level. This is especially visible when brightness is towards the minimum range, anyone else noticed this?
