Hello,
I currently run my MBP 16" base model in Clamshell mode with a single monitor over USB-C to displayport.
The single Dell monitor runs at 144Hz at 1440P.
This single monitor setup has 8w draw on the radeon high side and is a very cool and quiet workstation averaging around 50c with turboboost off.

I now want to run dual monitors. Identical specs and connection to the 2nd Dell monitor.

Does anyone have experience with 2 X USB-C to DP monitors in clamshell? Will I stay at 8Wish draw? Or will I be back up to the obscene 19-20W draw ?

Thank you for sharing your experience or second hand knowledge of a use case exactly like this.
Cheers

It'll get worse. I just bought a 16" that I had to return because it was just running the fans full blast idle... (I am pretty sad because I had a great refurb deal :/).

Bummer. You were running this exact (or very close) setup? Can you tell me what your setup was ?
I've read over 70 pages of that thread. I've return 4 different variations of the 16" MBP so I feel your pain.

I have two monitors:

- 27" Samsung 1080p, HDMI to USB-C
- 43" Samsung Ultrawide 1080p, Display Port to USB-C

I tried many different cables, plugged one monitor on each side, nothing could be done, the laptop would run at 19-20W draw, fans at 5000rpm and temperatures would average at 60º, all idle.

Running just the ultrawide monitor would have the fans chill out to 2000rpm, but any usage of the CPU (like playing a youtube video in Chrome or opening Webstorm) would automatically bump that up to 3000rpm.

My current MBP 13" running with the same setup, only gets crazy when I compile my apps with XCode, but otherwise it runs most of the time silent.

It works! My 2019 Macbook Pro 16" base model Running 2x Dell S2716DG monitors at 144Hz and 1440P. Using USB-C to Display port cables listed above and the laptop in Clamshell is drawing 7W at Radeon High side.
This WORKS! I am so happy! laptop is at 50C right now driving two monitors at 1440P and 144hz in clamshell. I cant believe I had to do this much work just to get a $2000 dollar laptop to work right. But I think this is going to do the trick for me.
