After reading that reddit, im quite shocked. Losing a ton of performance.
 
If you experience cpu throttling when its temperature is way below maximum operating temperature, or suddenly crash, you might suspect that the power delivery system doesn't work really well.

Gamers Nexus on Youtube have some good videos about that topic. You might want to check these: vrm basic, vrm testing, analysing vrm on a motherboard
 
I'm curious since I've never used pads like this, are they adhesive or did you put some special glue on them?

They're a bit soft and slightly sticky. You can just lightly press them onto the VRMs and they will stay there.
If you want to remove them, just pull them off and they come off without leaving residue.
