Could you all do me a favor and listen to your HD's on your new 17" MBP.

I have the 7200 rpm, and this is what I hear all the time:

MBP HD Recording

I recorded this by opening Garageband, selecting a new track, recording with internal mic at full recording volume. I opened Firefox and Mail, then back to Garageband. Then I just upped the volume by 6dB so you could all hear it without having to crank your volume.

This is what I hear whenever there is any sort of load on the CPU.

I have tried using HDAPM (I think it's called), but it didn't seem to stop the problem.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

It's my only gripe with this machine, and from what I've read Apple considers it completely acceptable. Reasonably priced SSDs can't come soon enough.

My 7200 320GB stock hard drive in my Unibody 17" is completely silent, its even quieter on max speed than my 15" Unibody.

That sounds like a physical issue, so I doubt anything will fix it short of replacing the drive.
