Hi all,

I updated my MBP 2011 today - there were no issues with the actual update.
But when it turned back on again there was no sound. The F10, 11 & 12 keys work, but it's just at the mute setting and I can't turn it up.

Any ideas?

Update:
Reset of PRAM didn't fix the problem.
The weird thing is actually that the sound does work - I just can't control it. Or at least it works on Skype.

Here is a picture what happens when I try to turn up the sound:

I'm having the same problem too.
It happens every single firmware update.
After that the sound and one of the usbs are lost.
I took my mac to the store for repair and they just format everything.
I'm tired of formatting my mac every firmware update.

Anybody help!!

fix

I had this problem due to performing a firmware update with earphones plugged in. I was on the phone with technical support then realized it could be related I just plugged the earphones back in and then removed them and now its working! Quite funny :D
