Hi,

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 13inch that is coming up with network hardware failure so I can no longer connect to the wifi. I have read online I need a new network card or something but understand these as hard to get hold of as it’s an older model. Someone has suggested buying a plug in wifi adapter and I was wondering if this would work as a short term fix untill I invest in a new Mac in a few months time? And if so any recommendations what to buy?

Thanks,

Joseph

order a native 802.11Ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 for your 2012 MBP 13" from this thread below, don't waste your money buying garbage usb wifi adapter. Good luck.

USB wifi dongles are relatively cheap and trivial to use. Make sure the one you buy has speed you need (AC may expensive and not needed for this old computer). MAINLY: make sure the dongle specifies it is supported by macOS. Or check hackintosh community (e.g.: https://www.tonymacx86.com) and pick one of dongles, which is reported there as supported without modifications by your version of macOS. Adding drivers is not needed if you buy correctly supported dongle.
