2018 MBP screen issues (now had 5 machines, all had screen issues in one way or another):

#1 - 3 x horizontal shadowy lines across the screen - one near the bottom, one in the middle, and the last near the top.
#2 - Pink on the left, blue on the right
#3 - Flaw in the glass panel - resulting in pressure on the screen, top right and causing a 2" vertical pinch point/shadow running down the screen from the top menu bar 3/4's of the way along the screen. Very little horizontal shadowy lines on this one however and no tint - frustrating as this would otherwise have been a perfect machine (I was concerned the glass flaw would result in a cracked screen at some point)
#4 - 3 x horizontal shadowy lines across the screen again - confirmed by multiple Apple guys in the store.
#5 - Opened in the store, pink on the left, blue on right. 1 x Apple guy saw it, 3 others didn't.

I also used a couple of 15" MBPs in the store and they had the horizontal shadowy lines to some degree (and one had the pinch point shadow too to a lesser degree).

FWIW every panel was LG.

Have now given up on playing the screen lottery and got a full refund - will likely revisit at some point in the future once I've got fed up of Windows 10...

Where your shadow issues worse than the screenshot I posted? or similar?

I cannot return for refund, so trying to justify returning it 5 times for repair... which is 5 weeks prolly.

I wouldn't say worse - just in different places. Yours looks like it has dirty screen effect along the bottom and top with some uneven dark areas in particular on the bottom left corner. Difficult to tell from a photo of the display though.

If it was mine, I'd probably not be happy with it. End of the day, you are the one who has to look at it, nobody else. So if it bothers you, get it swapped out otherwise you'll be forever bothered about it.

However... I don't think you'll ever get a perfect screen unfortunately on a MacBook Pro - I just don't think they exist from my experience with the newer 2016, 2017 and 2018 models...

I don't want perfect, I want comparable to my 2014 model, which had flows but didn't at least look dirty :(

In theory they have to replace if I'm not happy right? I don't want gradients running over my screen. Much of my work involves developing user interfaces, or websites, sometimes there are bugs - I cannot see these as my screen seems to have the gradient of its own!

In theory they absolutely do not. If your screen is defective they 'have to'... not because you feel like they should.

Yes poor wording on my part. It is very hard to prove defectiveness of a screen though.

Noticed another deformation, because brightness is highest in the middle and drops off as you move away, on some websites it creates an illusion of distortion, it makes straight lines look bended.

I have to stand up for LG screens as I have what I consider a perfect one on my 15" 2018 MacBook Pro. I don't know what screen(s) I had on my 2016 models, but the first 2 that I returned had noticeable pink, blue and yellow color shifts and the 3rd one that I kept had a slight pink to blue shift across the screen that I could live with. My 2012 MacBook Pro Samsung screen had a dingy area on the bottom right area of the screen. I'm picky about screens and see all the irregularities and sympathize with your problem. Based on my experience I was hoping that the screens had improved this year but apparently that is not the case and I just got lucky. Good luck with your decision. I would go for a replacement.

It sounds like if it is bugging you that much I’d take it I’m and play scrren monopoly. No sense living with a monitor that is going to bug you.

On the flip side, is it possible you could by a good quality monitor that you could use most of the time when not mobile?

I have Dell 4k screen, which is awesome. But I'm mobile 6 month a year.

Lucky, been wanting a 4K monitor but still hasn’t been in the budget.

If it were me, I’d definitely take it back in to get the monitor replaced or see if there is a way you can have a more consistent looking screen.

Personally I have always liked MacBook Pro retina monitors, and considered them one of the best in the market, but it seems not everyone is so lucky on their units.
