This is true. The MacBook Air is almost the exact thickness that the 13” MacBook Pro appears to the eye because of the tapering trick it uses so you don’t see the thickest part of the machine which looking at it from the side.

I understand why the MacBook Pro stopped using these tricks for better thermals, but on the MacBook Air with no fan it feels like they were sacrificed just to save money on manufacturing.

Oh, and the speaker quality is NOT better than my 2017 MBP. No way.

The sound is far more surround and fuller on the MBP 2017 vs the M2 Air.
Agreed. The M1 Air was though. Then they went backwards by removing the speakers from each side of the keyboard and have them firing through slots at the back, bouncing off the M2's screen. So your whole experience is governed by screen-tilt. Genius.

It still has better sound than the crappy 13" though (which costs more).
