I have a 2018 MBP with Touch Bar - i5 with 8GB RAM and 256GB HD. Sadly, I didn't plan correctly and am down to 5GB free space on the HD despite my best efforts to offload what I don't need. I do not want to carry an external hard drive and know I should have gone with the 512GB drive. Here nor there at this point...

I'm considering getting into the new MBA with 512GB and perhaps go with 16GB RAM.

I really only need one Thunderbolt port (I'm usually docked into a Startech dock using two external Dell monitors).

My usage is primarily applications in the cloud - so lots of browser windows open at once. Also use MS Office - mainly Outlook, sometimes Excel and Word. For my usage do you think 16GB will have an impact over 8GB and help offset a dual core processor vs quad core?

Why MBA? A little lighter; no need for some of the MBP features. A little concerned about the screen brightness but typically I'm not going to be outside using the laptop, so maybe not a concern?

If I were to start all over again, pretty sure I would have gone with the new MBA out of the gate.

Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a MacBook Air might work for you. That being said, you might want to save some money and get dropbox or a cloud service

Thanks. I am using iCloud and OneDrive. I just like to have more important items on my laptop. I find myself not on good WiFi while traveling a surprising amount of times...
