The battery is absolute **** and that's pretty much my main complaint. It's a big enough complaint that I regret buying this.

So how about you?

It's about the same as my old 2013 MBP, which was still about the same as when it was new. Goes through 8 hours with a little bit left, plays video for 10+ hours.

Which model do you have. My battery is phenomenal, this is one of the areas that I was really happy with. I was using it the other day for about 3 hours and I think I dropped into the 80% range.

8+ hours writing code and running Docker all day with iTunes or Youtube running for most of that time too. The 6 cores really speed up my bundle times and allow me to run quite a few docker images at the same time.

The battery is very good unless you use software that unnecessarily wastes resources. And of course, if you push the machine hard, it will burn though the entire charge in an hour — just like any other laptop. With a combined power draw of over 80Watts, no laptop battery can last long :)

Mine's been fine, battery life in the 8 hour range, I couldn't be happier with the purchase. 15" base MBP.

Have you checked what's running? Maybe its a rogue app sucking the life out of the battery?

Are you just asking or are you looking for a solution? It would help if you would detail out your usage. Chrome versus Safari is one aspect. How much are you taxing the machine resources is another, in terms of using VMs or anything of the sort. External monitor attached will use GPU. External disks will use power. Fans spinning higher will use more power. You get the drift.

Help us with your use case.

I'm very happy with my new 15" MBP. Sure - certain programs like FCPX, Lightroom or Photoshop that are processor intensive will drain the battery faster. The same will be true on a laptop running WinDoze 10

My battery is also not very good. I get around 3-6 Hours with Safari and Youtube playing and lowest brightness. 15" i7 2.6 model.

Take a screen shot of the activity log/energy tab, sorted with the energy impact highest to lowest

Looks normal, though you may be only showing your processes and not all processes. I can tell you that if you scroll up, you'll see my screen shot and I have usage in the teens for some processes, where is you only have low 5s

The numbers are not comparable between systems. Your numbers are relative against your system and your other apps, same for 1050792. You can't compare 10 for Safari on one system to 5 for Safari on another. If Safari is the only thing that has been used the numbers will be higher, but if Safari is one of many apps in use the numbers will be lower.

In other words, the exact same Safari tasks will give different values based on what you did previously. If you've been hammering you machine with Lightroom, Final Cut, and some games, Safari will show a lower number for those tasks, than it would if you executed that task on a system that has been idle for 3 hours. This is because proportionally, Safari has had more impact in the latter scenario.

VERY happy with mine. Battery is better than last models of the MBPro.

Love mine!

YouTube with full brightness explains why yours in not very good.

Yeah and my battery is not lasting long enough with low 5s.

If you're able to give me one single example of a laptop lasting 10 hours of Lightroom rendering at max brightness and blasting music at full volume I'll give you my Mac.

Precisely the point. If I run anything strenuous I'll get a couple of hours on battery; if more casual use the battery life can be quite reasonable. (This on a 2.2/16/1 TB/555x.)
