Precisely the point. If I run anything strenuous I'll get a couple of hours on battery; if more casual use the battery life can be quite reasonable. (This on a 2.2/16/1 TB/555x.)

That's the reality irrespective of OEM if you push hard the battery will deplete rapidly. Tall tales of exceeding 10 hours under heavy loads are just a joke that anyone can figure with basic math...

Given how the OP hasn't returned, I'd say he's not interested in solving his issue, and more just ranting and lamenting. The truth is, that many of us have great battery life and since he failed to provide specifics, we have no idea how poor his battery life is

Ex: Only have Chrome and Activity Monitor open. 100% charge. Says time remaining is exactly five hours. Chrome has four tabs open. One is a YouTube stream. The others are just text. Brightness is at 25%.

Energy impact of Chrome is 43 right now. Average says 75. Oh, when I make the stream the open tab its energy impact is 90+.

People will probably be quick and just say "it's Chrome lol" but that doesn't excuse the fact that my five year old MBA with a battery at 1,000+ cycles will get about three to four hours with multiple Twitch streams open.

Testing the same four tabs on Safari the battery estimate varies from exactly the same as Chrome to 30 minutes more.

Is that with integrated graphics active? For safari with that kind of load it sounds very low. Note that it can take a good while for the battery estimate to catch up once usage pattern changes.

Chrome + youtube is definitely the biggest issue though, due to google insisting on feeding chrome vp9 streams even on platforms that don't have vp9 hardware decode.
