I'm looking at getting a 30" cinema display to accompany my MBP and have a question about display calibration. I am using a Spyder for calibration. Accurate calibration is required since I will use both displays for processing images.

I understand that the calibration profile for the MBP screen will be different from the profile for the 30" display.

My question is: Will the MBP automatically detect that the 30" display is connected and use the appropriate calibration profile, or will I have to change the calibration profile manually each time I connect or disconnect the 30" display? Or is this something that is done by the Spyder software?

Thanks.

depends on what version of Spyder you are using as to if it will do multiple monitors. I am using the calibration only on my external 24" and it works fine.

I have the the i1 Display Lt and it creates two different profiles for my MBP and ACD 23'. The os seems to know which one to use automatically. Or you might just have to select which one is activated when.
