MBP 4.1 and WD10TPVT

Hello,

I'd like to replace my dying 250GB original HDD with the 1TB WD10TPVT. With 1.3cm instead of the usual 0.95cm height this new HDD is higher than expected. Before I buy I'd like to know if any of you where able to use this HDD in a model like mine. I have a:

MacBook Pro 4.1 15.4" pre unibody, dual 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo, nvidia.

EDIT: Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, was a kind of accident

Only the 17" pre-Unibody MBP can take 12.5mm high 2.5" S-ATA HDDs, the other models only take 2.5" S-ATA HDDs with a maximum height of 9.5mm.

Thus the biggest HDD you can get is a 750GB one.

Thank you, will go for the 750 drive.

Its a shame to miss out on 250GB more. I carry at least three external HDDs just to have some space for photographs, video material etc. Its so annoying. Especially at the airport.

You could replace the SuperDrive with another 750GB drive

Tempting thought ...

Yet this is my last working disk burner. Even so I don't believe in this aged technology most people love little shiny disks for data exchange. Its a curse.

I keep an eye on Lacie's rugged drives. Once they offer the 1TB FW800 drive without this ridicules fingerprint scanner I might get a few of them for mobile data collection, leaving the 3.5 Inch drives at home
