MBP 7,1 2x8GB only shows 8GB

SMC 1.62f7

OS X 10.10.5
OS X 10.11 GM candidate

Under 10.10.5 the system shows bank 0 empty, bank 1 8GB.
I have done the SMC reset.


I have tested each stick with the inner / deepest slot and system boots up.
If two sticks are installed I only see 8GB.

This is new ram I bought (this is second set. first set I received was bad)

CHeck the max ram supported. It might be 8gb.

As of few minutes ago I'm running 16GB.
Don't know why, but I had to introduce the system slowly to the possibility of more than 8GB.
I installed 8GB and my original 2GB stick.

Mid 2010 13" models can run 16GB of RAM, but they're very very picky about the RAM.
