Alright, just want to say thank you to everyone on this board for posting this and keeping it visible. I just picked up the 13" Macbook Pro Retina with 256gb for $1150. I used the $300 discount and a $50 student discount code. KILLER DEAL! I then added some software/applecare/case that raised it a bit but coming from a 2010 macbook pro which is 6 years old is amazing. THANK YOU everyone!

Congrats on new purchase. Glad it worked out for you!

Starting to think that even at $1150, the 2015 rMBP is not right for me. The 2016 rMP + CalDigit USB-C dock (total price ~$1450) probably makes more sense. I'm really intrigued by the fanless/weight savings of the rMP. Connecting peripherals is something I think would be best handled by a stationary dock where I'd be connected to external display/ethernet. I can't see myself needing USB-A while "on the go".

But that dock is still a few months away from release. Also, you really are talking apple vs oranges in terms of Horse power. But if your needs are minimal, I agree the rMB is a great machine.

I get the impression that the CalDigit dock will be ready in June. As a current CalDigit owner (ThunderBolt Dock 1), I'm comfortable that they'll meet that timeline, and their products are robust, in my experience.

For horsepower, I have a base Late 2013 Mac Pro + Late 2014 Mac mini. Anything of real substance can/would be carried out on one of those machines.

The fanless design of a rMB is what is becoming more appealing to me, the further I explore these options.
