I have the same issues with mine(bought in July)...When I first plugin the light turns on and sometimes turns right off. Other times it stays on for a while(few minutes up to a few hours). I keep meaning to go to the Apple Store, but haven't quite made it yet.

It seems like when I first got it it didn't have this problem, but i first noticed the change at the end of August

Well you gotta love Applecare!!! I called on thursday and explained what is happening with my magsafe adapter. They sent out a replacement which I recieved the next morning.

Blinking

How bout this? My LED on my magsafe has been blinking for the past few weeks. It says in the menubar that it is completely charged, but the light blinks steadily from green to orange. It isn't sparatic at all. Just back and forth and back and forth. It never stays solid.

Is it really a big deal? My megsafe does the same thing. I thought it just did that so it wouldn't kill the LED. I'd have my MBP plugged in and after it is fully charged a few hours later it will stop shining green. It still sends power to my computer, usually it happens when my MBP goes to sleep mode. It also does it in the sunlight. If I am charging my battery and my MBP is in sunlight the LED shuts off and turns on when it's in shadows. As long as it's still charging, does it really matter?

Mines started to do the same thing today it blinks green and orange. The battery status change from 99% to 100% charged.

ah!! my i came back to see my charger light showing no light whatsoever!

im scared! and i hope this doesnt continue happening..

Just to update, i sent my charger in and they replaced it with a small form factor power supply. :) Its much smaller than the old charger!

the connector fits snugly too, and so far no issues have popped up!

Hate to dredge up an old thread but my magsafe on my santa rosa MBP has been doing this too, it started a couple weeks ago, but it is becoming much more frequent.

It used to be only after it woke up from sleep, usually a hour or two later the light went out.

However, now it is doing it more frequently without going to sleep.

My question is, how do I know if I have the redesigned power adapter? I got this MBP in mid october. The adapter's model number is A1222.

Either way I'm going to be contacting Apple about this.

Edit: never mind, answered my own question. The A1222 is the redesigned adapter. Time to call Apple...

I too have returned a 85W Mag-safe adaptor with the same problem. The green light would disappear and still be on. It also would stay green even after I un-plugged it sometimes. Weird stuff. I later noticed some minor corrosion on the electrical pins of the Mag-safe adaptor. I went to the Genius Bar and had them check it out. They tried to tell me it was working fine, but I insisted they give me the benefit of the doubt and replace it. I wasn't comfortable using it as who knows what fire hazard it could have been?

A small amounts of moisture (maybe just from prolonged and/or intermittent humidity) in the presence of an electrical current will cause corrosion. this has two effects, 1) it can be enough of a resistance that the small voltage cannot get through, and 2) the contact pins are spring loaded, and can get stuck in the down position where they do no make contact with the dimples in the female contacts of the computer. The latter is why the rocking of the plug makes it work.

Use your nail or as a geniuses (at the north shore apple store) suggested, the more abrasive eraser of a mechanical pencil to clean the contacts. A last effort is car battery contact cleaner. just let it dry for a long time. I have two plugs, so I was able to do that.

sorry for waking this up,

does this happen to you guys? happens in my mbp 2011. at first i thought the wire on my charger was broken. tried a different charger and same thing happens, green light goes off, but battery indicator saying still plug in.

i dunno if its the charger or the magsafe port, or is this normal
