I just put my mid-2009 MBP into clamshell mode for the first time and there is red fuzziness on the screen that won't go away no matter what setting I choose.

Anyone know how to eliminate that?

It's most likely the monitor that you bought is defective, or there's something wrong with the cord, or one or both connection ports. Or all of that could be happening..
