Hi guy and gals,

I need help...

I was just working on my MBP a few minutes ago when all of a sudden the screen messes up and the desktop is jumbled up in little colored boxes.

I tried restarting, with no luck. It's a few years old, and I had AppleCare, but it has expired.

Any ideas? I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, but I'm not certain.

I'm on my iPad now (it's all I have), so I took a picture and uploaded it to my Facebook so you all can see what I'm dealing with.

Any help would be awesome!

It sounds like a problem with the graphics card. Does your model have an Nvidia 8600? There was a problem with that series in general, I think.

This sounds like it. If you do, in fact have the 8600 card, then Apple will replace the card at least. If not the entire computer. So my advice would be to call Apple.

I don't know. But I suppose if you call Apple, they would be able to tell you.

Well, from apple's website, it appears I have an ATI card. I'll call AppleCare when they open to see what they say and get an idea if a repair is worth it.
