I had it on charge overnight. I wake up in the morning and it was frozen on the lock screen. I close the lid and now it doesn’t turn on no matter what I do... Can you guys help out?
Thanks a lot.I would likely do a couple of steps:
Boot to Diagnostics to help reassure you that the hardware is basically working OK.
When you have forced power off (because you had to do that), boot to your recovery system, and run Disk Utility/First Aid on the drive, just as a check that the drive directory is still solid.
The latest MacBooks don’t have the visual indicator LED that lets you know its charging. I bet the charger wasn’t fully connected and the battery drained overnight. In the morning, you established good power and twenty minutes later it started up.It just turned on now after 20 minutes. What should I do now? Just see if it happens again? This is so annoying...
Thank you for the link! I will save this just in case...I would not know if it is "common", but is unusual.
And, the MBPro belongs to you, so it would be annoying to find out that you have some kind of issue with a relatively new laptop (common or not!)
Next time (if there is a next time ), you could try an SMC reset. That may speed up the return to normal for you (or not)
If it does become common (for you), then "genius" or AppleCare is your next step, as you may have some kind of hardware issue. Apple should help you with that...
I left it on through the night (charger plugged in) as I was downloading large files. Woke up and found it frozen. Closed the lid and couldn't get it to turn on again.Did you put it to sleep the night previous... or... shut it down?
My "boilerplate" suggestion:
At night, shut it down.
Boot up "fresh in the morning".
It was fully charged when it turned back on eventually, so the battery wasn't drained. The latest MacBooks don’t have the visual indicator LED that lets you know its charging.
