hio =)

wondering if anyone one can speak about their FPS running on a 22-24 inch external display with a MBP 2.4ghz 256mb video memory 2-4gb ram. MBP in clamshell mode and/or open

only display specs i really care about are:
High resolution (screen real estate) ---not max, but above native
view distance ---max or just below
spell effects---mid to max

i have all expands

im looking to buy this set up and hoping i can get a solid 40fps

How is play like in area's such as DAL, large WOTLK zones or BG's?

thanks in advance for the help

im also considerding the same set up with the 2.53ghz model with 512mb video memory but dont wanna put out the extra $$ if the 256mb card if capable

thanks again!!

On my Macbook with GMA 950 (A TERRIBLE INTEGRATED CARD!), on a 24" 1920x1200 external display, I get around 32 FPS. You should have absolutely no problems whatsoever with a MBP.

I guess this is in Elvynn forrest with most on low?

I'm an avid raider and my MBP (i got the 8600 version, but it should be very huge difference) can keep 30 FPS most of the time, but there will be slowdowns from time to time.

I've got 4GB ram, a 1680x1050 external screen (upgraded 320GB HD that always have alteast 20% free space, so it won't be a slowdown)

I always have spell details on highest, but I'm using no antialiasing or texture filtering, I do also only have half on viewing distance and low shadows.

If im maxing gfx I can't even maintain a stable 5-10 FPS in raids!

In wintergrasp I have to set everything on lowest to stay above 15-20FPS (i'm on a very highpop server tho, and there are often 300+ ppl in wintergrasp).

Hey guys thanks for the replies just the kind of info I was looking for

Cluthz u mentioned u have an 8600card is that the 256mb or 512mb?
Also what did u mean when u said " it should be a very huge difference "?

Im also not sure about how ur Santa rosa compares to the uniMBP. I'll look up some benchmarks

I don't think ill be doing 25mans much. prolly 5-10man mostly and bg/arena. I play on stormrage another high pop server.

And I've got to know...horde or alliance? =)

I'll also be on a 22" screen and ur resolution sounds like what I planned on using. Would u say the 2.4 2600(256mb) mbp would be capable for what I've described? You seem to be happy with ur set up I just don't know if u have the 256mb or 512mb card?

Thanks again for the info

update:

after tons of reading on here and there. ive come to the conclusion that the 2.4 mbp with the 9600gt 256mb + a 22-24 inch display card will hold up just fine for my wow + external display needs ><

thanks for the feed back guys really appreciate it
