Hi all,

As above really. After using the dictation function on my MacBook Pro, the fans inside the machine go on full power for at least a minute and a half after I have stopped dictating. Any particular reason why?

It's as if the Mac is struggling to comprehend what I am saying and needs to cool down after understanding me!

This is because macOS considerably lowers the fans when using dictation/Siri in order to hear you better. The fans may have sped up if you were using dictation for too long and the processor got too warm

Thank you for your reply Jordan. Yes, I do often use the dictation function for even a minute or two in duration - pretty long I guess.

I was just going to post about this. Using dictation for even like 20 seconds on my 2017 MacBook Pro (non-Touch Bar) causes the fans to go crazy for 20 or 30 seconds. However during the dictation the fans are completely off. It's kind of strange because even an older iPhone like the 6S can do dictation via Siri reasonably well without even breaking a sweat or getting warm. In both cases on macOS and iOS it seems to drain the battery considerably regardless of what the fans do however.
