MBP firewire charging problem?

I have a new(ish) MBP, when I plug in my iPod Photo into the computer via firewire, it does not work or get charged. Is there something wrong with my MBP?

Does your ipod charge when plugged into mains?

Does the FW port work for something else - either data or power?


either one could be the source of the problem.

Yes, my iPod does work when it is plugged into the mains power and when it is plugged into my MB.

The firewire does mount my backup hard dive, but only when i restart.
