First, let me begin with saying that I just received my brand new MBP 15" and I am loving it! Now I just have a quick question that I am hoping some people can answer. My major is computer science and I will most likely be doing a lot of coding. Will the Mac OS X be ok for this? Or am I going to have to switch over to Windows on boot camp a lot?

Thanks!

Depends on the programming language you'll have to use. If it's .NET then you'll have to use Windows. If it's plain C/C++ or Java or any open source scripting language (PHP/Perl/Python) then MacOS will be perfect.

A few years back, when I was undergraduate, I used to do a lot of C/C++ on Solaris. We could use almost any OS we wanted and the professors didn't care as they were mostly using UNIX.
