I have a mid 2010 macbook pro that has a bad logic board. My dad graciously gave my his early 2011 macbook pro and I would like to swap my hard drive for his, as I just purchased a SSD will I need to format that hard drive or can I just swap it without loosing the information and programs I have installed?

if it will swap will I have to install programs again?

Should be pretty straight forward. I found myself marveling over the engineering required to make such a stellar product with the hood off...good luck.
