yeah, i keep flip flopping, but given the extended delays, and my need to go through a very lengthy and involved install process for a program on my windows side, I think it's time to just go with a 320GB... By the time I fill that one up, SSD's at 512GB might even be reasonably priced!

okay, finally did it. I sucked it up at ordered a 7200.3, 320GB Seagate hard drive from CanadaRAM.com. So for all those waiting on the 500GB 7200.4, it'll surely be announced within a day or two now that I've given up on waiting for it!

Anyway, I'm running on a 120GB drive now, so 320 will be amazing. Give this thing 2 or 3 years to fill up, and I'll be ready to upgrade to a 512GB SSD hopefully, provided they're below 200$ by then!

You don't happen to have a 2.16 c2d mbp?
I have one, and it also has a 5400rpm 120gb drive, and was thinking of doing the same thing(even from the same store), bump up to 320gb 7200rpm.
Please post your results after the upgrade.

I was also planning on getting a match pair of 2gb sticks to bump my ram up to 3.3gb usable from 2gb.(3.3gb is the max my model will use, even with 4gb in it). Any reason to go with kingston over crucial?

I've got a 2.2GHz Santa Rosa MBP. I also ordered a pair of 2GB ram sticks from Crucial and will pop those in at the same time. Or maybe I'll do those before the HD upgrade just so that if something's wrong I'll know whether it's cause of the RAM or the HD.

Just found this thread and noted that it's similar to my own issue here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/697051/

For any of you guys that went to a 7200 RPM drive, particularly 7200.4, did you notice an increase in iPhoto responsiveness, particularly in Faces and Places in '09? It seems to crawl on my 2.2GHz 4GB MBP. The lowest common denominator as far as I can tell is the 5400 RPM drive.
