There is a $200.00 price difference between these 2 models and the only difference I see is the 2.4 processor vs. the 2.53 and the 320gb hd vs 500gb hd.

HD aside, is the .13 speed boost worth $200? I may be in the market again soon.

There are threads discussing this problem just on page down.
And no the CPU speed is never worth it. They are almost identical.

The difference between the 2.4GHz and 2.53GHz i5 models are not worth it, but the difference between the 2.4GHz i5 and the 2.66GHz i7 is; so either you should get the base configuration which should fulfill most people's needs or go for the i7 which offers the best configuration and increase performance to justify the added costs.

No, it is never, ever ever worth it. When buying buy by processor family and forget about speed grades. This is the reason Apple offers other extras, like video ram and the like in their higher end 15" - they need to do SOMETHING to justify the cost.
