Sorry if I'm wrong!! I wasn't sure if theres a difference between desktop and laptop.
The i5 is dual core, it just supports HyperThreading, thus it has four virtual cores. It even says so on the official website: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/performance.html Btw, the i7 in the 13" MBP is also a dual core / four threads CPU: http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs-13inch.html
