Hate to scaremonger but 7 out of 9 MBP's (all the 15" models) I checked in the Apple store were running ~450mb real memory usage. Thats twice what the Core 2 Duo models were using!

    Mine:
Base 2.0 Ghz with High-Res Anti-Glare screen; 554 mb real memory at login.

    Fill yours in below!

i5 here but atm it's using just under 400 mb. As long as you have enough RAM that you aren't causing a ton of pages (my page ins are 77k compared to 1.7M page outs at the moment, or only 4.5%) then what's the problem?

    This is why:

    Page ins: 835 MB
    Page outs: 456 KB

    :(

Is there a typo? 456KB page out is not a problem, at all - it's essentially 0.

2010 i7 MBP here, kernal_task at 281MB real memory. Seems pretty good to me.
