My MBP crashes a lot, almost daily.....but it started only a week and a half ago... is this a hardware problem, cause I thought macs don't crash.

Check Console in the Utilities folder for any pertinent crash logs. What are you doing at the time of the crashes? What sort of crashes are they? What third party hardware do you have installed or connected? :)

Thanks for the quick reply, anyways, I don't have any third party hardware. When it crashes this grey transparency drapes down over my screen and tells me to hold down the power button to restart.

Programs that I was running when the crashes occurred include: amsn, azureus, itunes, tagebuch, firefox, usually i have a finder window open, and really that's all. If I remember correctly it usually occurs when I have a fair amount of programs running at once...like the ones above.

Hmm... It could be Azeurus... There's an app called Console in your Utilities folder. Open this up and check crashreporter.log to see if it points to anything. Feel free to post the log(s) here if you're not sure what they're on about. They can be quite cryptic. :)

Well I get this list.....Here I attached a pic of it.

does your fan turn on?

actaully how do mac users monitor their CPU/board/GPU/hdd temps? does OSX have any kind of built in HW monitoring?

Well there are a handful of 3rd party apps that you can download to monitor your Mac's temp. iCyclone is the program that I'm currently running. But, it is important to know that Leopard does automatically monitor the fans.. :apple:

I'm quite sure it's not a temperature thing...my fans are usually at 2001rpm and cpu 40 degrees C.

Look at crashreporter under var/log?

Ths is odd my crashreporter log has the last entry as dec 29th, even though I had just crashed prior to posting this topic.....
