I'm on a MBP 10.5.6 Intel, 2.4ghz, bought this first quarter of 2008.

It doesn't happen TOO often but it is very annoying when it does.. at random times my keys and my touchpad would just stop working. USB Mouse works fine, I can click around, but anything on the keyboard and touch pad absolutely does not respond. I figured out that a quick fix is to close the lid (which puts it to sleep) then things turn back to normal.. this is annoying because wifi/lan disconnects when the book gets put to sleep.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the exact same problem. Its been happening I think since the last software update. I'm going to take it in this week to the mac store, but I'm worried theyll try and negate my warranty based on the couple of dents in the machine (around the usb ports and the screen).

though it happens rarely

it has happened a bit more since the new updates

(cant be sure which one as i did the leopard one, SMC, and the other one all around the same time)

same here, cant remember when this happened the first time
plus i've got an "uneven" trackpad so might bring to apple store for a fix:(

Here too

This also happens to me on a mid-2007 MBP. I really think it seems to be related to when I sync my iPhone 3G. I have not updated to 10.5.6 yet.

Same problem here, mbp 15" late 2008. It usually happens when I have it on my lap, with some tilting. However just even a little tilt, like when I have it on my bed can cause it. When it happens, I close->open the lid like the original poster. To get rid of the issue I have to reboot if I remember right otherwise it just keeps happening again and again during my session. Now this doesn't always happen and I rarely restart the OS to begin with.
